IPAF interviews Nadine El-Hadi, Hoopoe acquisitions editor

Hoopoe, the new fiction imprint of AUC Press, has today published its first titles in the UK.
The imprint’s launch titles include three books previously shortlisted for the International Prize for Arabic Fiction: The Televangelist by Ibrahim Issa, Time of White Horses by Ibrahim Nasrallah and A Rare Blue Bird Flies With Me by Youssef Fadel.
Nadine El-Hadi, acquisitions editor at Hoopoe and managing editor of AUC Press, explained more about the imprint:
“I think that there are lots of readers who are really looking to understand what is happening in this part of the world, to see beyond the headlines. While writers shouldn’t be expected to explain or represent the area they come from they do, of course, write about the world in which they live and as such fiction can offer a certain, perhaps more intimate, view into this region.”
